Turmeric - 4 ounces
$3.99
Fresh turmeric roots look similar to their cousin, ginger. Unlike ginger, turmeric presents with a deep golden tone. It's flavor adds a bright yellow flavor and color to curries and sauces. Turmeric's bright orange flesh is earthy, peppery, and slightly bitter. The root is awesome peeled and sliced and stewed in with your favorite curry. It is also delicious in juices, teas, and tonics. Some claim that Turmeric possesses soothing and anti-inflammatory qualities for what ails the body.
From Our Farmers
To make sure you can always get the best produce and pantry items available, we source fruits, veggies and grocery items from many of our trusted local farmers and producers. As with all the products in our Marketplace, we prioritize working with local producers as seasonality allows, and we maintain our strict sourcing standards. Produce and pantry items that’s not available from Texas farmers or producers due to growing region or season will always be secondary when sourcing.
Like most raw produce, turmeric root has a relatively short shelf life in the refrigerator. Even when stored correctly, it will only stay good for about a week or so. Before placing your turmeric into a container or plastic bag, wrap in a paper towel. Then seal in a plastic bag or airtight plastic container
Check back in on your roots every few days if you don’t plan on using them right away. If any mold has appeared on the surface of the skin, remove them with a knife or hand grater, ensuring that you’ve removed a bit of the infected skin with it. Once you remove the mold, make sure you also replace the paper towel as well. This should also probably indicate that your roots should be used within the next few days before they go bad.
