Oro Blanco - 1 ct

$2.49

Oro Blancos are a cross between a white grapefruit and an acidless pummelo.  Oro Blancos are as big or bigger than a medium sized grapefruit, generally round to flat round, with a slightly thicker rind than a grapefruit. The most notable characteristic of an Oro Blanco is the flavor. It eats sweet and the flesh lacks the bitterness sometimes associated with grapefruit. Those that have sampled them describe the flavor as a grapefruit with the sugar already added.

Oro Blancos are a cross between a white grapefruit and an acidless pummelo. Early in the season they can be readily identified by their bright green exterior. With this variety, green is good. As the season progresses, green turns to golden yellow. In either case the Oro Blanco is ripe, sweet, and ready to eat. Direct from the Farm

Our Farmers

We strive to choose only organically grown or certified organic veggies and fruits from as close to home as possible. However, sometimes we are unable to find a local AND organic option, and in that event we may choose to offer a pesiticide-free local product from a farmer that uses integrated pest management on their crops.  We target farms that put an emphasis on health, safety and the fair treatment of their employees, their animals and their farm. We have high standards, and so do our farms.

Because their peels are so thick, oro blancos can be kept at room temperature. They’ll last several weeks.
