Onion, Green - 1 Bunch
$2.35
A mild-tasting onion, they add both flavor and color to a dish, can be cooked or eaten raw, and used as a garnish. Also known as scallions and spring onions.
We strive to choose only organically grown or certified organic produce from as close to home as possible. However, sometimes we are unable to find a local AND organic option, and in that event we may choose to offer a pesiticide-free local product from a farmer that uses integrated pest management on their crops.
From Our Farmers
To make sure you can always get the best produce and pantry items available, we source fruits, veggies and grocery items from many of our trusted local farmers and producers. As with all the products in our Marketplace, we prioritize working with local producers as seasonality allows, and we maintain our strict sourcing standards. Produce and pantry items that’s not available from Texas farmers or producers due to growing region or season will always be secondary when sourcing.
Stand green onions upright in an inch of water in a tall container covered loosely with a zipper-lock bag. Put in the refrigerator. When stored this way, with a water change once every 3 days, green onions can last for well over a week with very little loss in quality. Remove the rubber band that are likely keeping the stalks together, and don't wrap a rubber band around the plastic bag. That will trap in moisture and cause your scallions to wilt more quickly.
Alternatively, you can store green onions in a breathable bag in the high humidity drawer of your refrigerator.
