This near-round, softball-sized fruit has a tough, leathery rind; inside hides a treasure trove of juicy, edible seeds that glisten like rubies.

Pomegranates strike a perfect flavor balance between sweet and tart.

The slight astringency of their juice and seeds has long been prized in Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Indian cooking. The juice can be used as a base for both sweet and savory dishes, while the multitudinous seeds (about 600 in a large pomegranate) add juicy crunch and glorious crimson color to everything from salads to couscous. (But be careful — pomegranate juice stains instantly!)

From Our Farmers

To make sure you can always get the best produce and pantry items available, we source fruits, veggies and grocery items from many of our trusted local farmers and producers. As with all the products in our Marketplace, we prioritize working with local producers as seasonality allows, and we maintain our strict sourcing standards. Produce and pantry items that’s not available from Texas farmers or producers due to growing region or season will always be secondary when sourcing.

Pomegranates should be kept in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight. Whole fruit can be refrigerated and will keep as long as 2 months. Fresh seeds or juice will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Pomegranate arils can be frozen for later use.
