The Rio Star is a variety of grapefruit related to Ruby Red and thanks to its high level of sweetness and its dark red color, it quickly replaced Ruby Red as America’s favorite grapefruit. In fact, the Rio Star is known far and wide as the sweetest grapefruit in the world.
A sub-tropical citrus fruit grown easily in Texas, it is high in the usual citrus vitamins of A and C.

As with all the products in our Marketplace, we prioritize working with local producers as seasonality allows, and we maintain our strict sourcing standards. Produce and pantry items that’s not available from Texas farmers or producers due to growing region or season will always be secondary when sourcing.
Whole grapefruit: you can leave them on the counter for about a week, or they will last 3 weeks in the fridge.
Cut grapefruit: If you’ve cut a grapefruit in half, wrap the exposed part with plastic wrap and store in the fruit drawer of your fridge.
Cut segments: can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
